Course Objectives

A comprehensive course which involves basic endocrinology sciences, stimulation protocols for IUI, detailed use of stimulation drugs, and setup of IUI laboratory and semen processing. The trainees will be given hands on training on follicular scans, semen processing, IUI and patient counseling. This is targeted at clinicians who would want to venture into reproductive medicine.Finally, demonstration of foundational knowledge will assist these professionals to function in their roles safely and capably, ultimately contributing to improved quality of care and patient outcomes. This course will provide basic theoretical and practical knowledge specific to the clinical area of infertility, address minimum competency needs, and provide a foundation for training.

Eligibility
  • Doctors specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology with a minimum experience of 3 years in dealing with infertility issues.
  • Physicians familiar with OI (Ovulation Induction) & IUI (Intra Uterine Insemination) procedures using stimulation with gonadotropins.
  • Experience in trans-vaginal ultrasound for follicular tracking.
Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the anatomy of the female and male reproductive tract and physiology of conception.
  • Identify the hormonal and functional changes in the menstrual cycle.
  • List the major steps in the evaluation for infertility.
  • Describe the treatment for the most common causes of male and female infertility.
  • Identify the various medications and their role in infertility treatment.
  • Describe the steps in basic embryologic development and the physiologic changes of early pregnancy.
  • Discuss the psychosocial impact of infertility.
